چکیده

We report results of the ultrasonic investigation of Ba1−xKxBiO3 superconducting (SC) single crystals for two potassium concentrations x ∼= 0.35 and x ∼= 0.47 in a wide temperature range including the normal and the SC states. An instability of the crystal lattice that develops above the superconducting phase transition leads to a softening of both the transverse c44 and the longitudinal c11 modes at temperatures between 200 K and 50 K. In the case of Ba0.65K0.35BiO3 a pronounced hysteresis was discovered. Low temperature X-ray powder diffraction analysis does not reveal any change of the cubic structure in the samples within a resolution of our X-ray technique. The softening of the elastic moduli, the hysteresis, the maximum in the attenuation of sound along with the possible short(or long-) range structural distortion can be explained qualitatively in a simple model by assuming a coupling of the acoustic modes with the anharmonic oscillations of BiO6 octahedra. Some weak anomalies are discovered in the velocity of the longitudinal sound in the vicinity of the superconducting phase transition. 0 Large oxygen - isotope effect in Sr 0 . 4 K 0 . 6 BiO 3 : Evidence for phonon - mediated superconductivity

Oxygen-isotope effect has been investigated in a recently discovered superconductor Sr0.4K0.6BiO3. This compound has a distorted perovskite structure and becomes superconducting at about 12 K. Upon replacing 16O with 18O by 60-80%, the Tc of the sample is shifted down by 0.32-0.50 K, corresponding to an isotope exponent of αO = 0.40(5). This isotope exponent is very close to that for a similar ...

Magnetic pair - breaking in superconducting Ba 1 − x K x BiO 3 investigated by magnetotunneling

The de Gennes and Maki theory of gapless superconductivity for dirty superconductors is used to interpret the tunneling measurements on the strongly type-II high-Tc oxide-superconductor Ba1−xKxBiO3 in high magnetic fields up to 30 Tesla. We show that this theory is applicable at all temperatures and in a wide range of magnetic fields starting from 50 percent of the upper critical field Bc2. In ...

Competition of magnetism and superconductivity in underdoped (Ba1−xKx)Fe2As2

Polycrystalline samples of underdoped (Ba1−xKx)Fe2As2 (x ≤ 0.4) were synthesized and studied by x-ray powder diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, specific heat and Fe-Mössbauer-spectroscopy. The structural phase transition from tetragonal to orthorhombic lattice symmetry shifts towards lower temperatures, becomes less pronounced at x = 0.1-0.2 and is no longer present at x = 0.3. Bulk supercon...

Antiferroic electronic structure in the nonmagnetic superconducting state of the iron-based superconductors

A major problem in the field of high-transition temperature (Tc) superconductivity is the identification of the electronic instabilities near superconductivity. It is known that the iron-based superconductors exhibit antiferromagnetic order, which competes with the superconductivity. However, in the nonmagnetic state, there are many aspects of the electronic instabilities that remain unclarifie...
